Assistive Technology Discussion / Feedback on mobility scooters
« Last post by Mikael on Today at 12:22:05 AM »
Hi, I am working on a site that is rapidly growing right now and I would very much like your feedback on it. As a disabled man myself suffering from scoliosis lately I have been having a hard time walking any further than 2 miles and when I was about to purchase my first mobility scooter I got the idea to test ride as many as I could before finally taking the plunge.
So I did and I added them all to my new site that I hope will grow into a large source for people with disabilities to use as a guide while trying to find the right mobility scooter for them. You can read more about it over at
All ideas and criticism are welcome. As long as they are handed out in a nice manor. :)
Best wishes!

On Facebook i created a group for people from the UK called See the person, not just the disability! (UK only)  which is for people that have a physical condition or a learning difficulty.   I also created a page which is called I have a condition, not a disability! which is for people from around the world that have a physical condition or a learning difficulty.

I've been an amputee for nearly 13 years. It would be nice to be dated by guys who were interested in more than my missing leg. Don't get me wrong because I don't mind a guy being initially attracted to me because I'm one legged, but he has to remember that there's a fine line between this and an obsession. There's far more to any disabled person than a disability. Look beyond the disability and you'll be rewarded.

I've just discovered this site and love it. If anyone would like to contact a 37 year old female amputee then please feel free to get in touch. Would love to hear from other amputee ladies and share problems. Just waiting to hear from you. Oh, and guys are more than welcome as well.

Hey Jimmy I'm 35 too. can't believe I waited so long to find a forum like this.
I was never one to complain, but after twenty some years I decided to finally find some outlet to vent my frustrations about the inadequacy, or total lack thereof, handicapped accessibility in some places.  And I never had a  penpal yeah my names Molly, hope to hear back soon :-)

Aubrey, It's nice to meet you. I think I must be the complete opposite of what you're looking for. I'm a middle-aged man in the Northeast. I am what I think would be called a tetraplegic- a person who cannot use their limbs due to an illness. For the sake of discussion I usually just refer to myself as a quadriplegic. The biggest difference is that I have sensation and can wiggle my arms and legs a little. I hope that you can find what you're looking for in terms of friends. I found that speaking with other people that have disabilities, especially wheelchair users, has been a great help to me over the years. I've been disabled for about 10 years now.

Hello I'm a 26 female paraplegic who lives with a 9 year old spinal cord injury. I would just like to meet other paras around my age to be friends with. I live in a really rural area of the u.s. so I don't know a lot of people with my type of injury. I just want to meet other women with spinal cord injuries to be friends with.

I’m also new here. I’m a middle-aged man with muscular dystrophy. I can’t walk or lift my arms anymore, but I am able to drive a modified van and work part-time. I spent the last 10 years at another forum that no longer exists and I’m looking for a new home. I’m looking for a place where I can discuss disability issues, wheelchairs, how to get through the day… And also make some friends.
