You are correct.
I know that one argument I commonly hear is how to be LDS you have to accept Joseph Smith as your Savior. Nothing is farthest from the truth. Joseph Smith is only the modern day version of Moses, IMO. Just another mouth piece. In the end we still accept Jesus as our Savior.

Re: Being Disabled in the church
Yes Whitewater, they do a lot of damage. Sadly, that's just the way it is with them. That is why I have checked out so many churches. You see, I really do believe in Jesus. I really do believe in His Father, God. People can and will let you down, but Jesus will not. He loves you no matter what. And ...

Re: Being Disabled in the church
Latrea79, God is perfect, man is not. Those preachers that said they were gonna cure you, who knows what they really are. Can God cure you? Yes, God can do anything. But He has plans for you. What those are I have no idea. But He still loves you. I believe that sometimes somethings in life just happ...

Re: Disability discrimination
Justice, sometimes that's just the way the cookie crumbles. No one likes it, but it happens. I have to say that in this case you would be better off finding another church and letting this problem church go. Nothing we do or say will change anything, and unless yiu have lots of money to hire a la...

Re: Disability discrimination, part 2
Problem five- My home has been broken into over eleven times in the past three years. Do the math on that. Once every 3-1/4 months. In real life it's is whenever anyone wants. And the cops do nothing. The cops, I feel, know who is doing it. It is bad enough that I cannot "go home" without feel...

Re: Disability discrimination
Contact the ADA and tell them the full story.
I don't know about the UK, but in the US there is no ADA to contact. ADA is a set of laws and standards. Not an agency or department. Employment-wise, the EEOC. However, religious organizations are, generally, exempt. [quot...

Re: Loss of friends after disability
There are friends, and then there are friends. Some people simply are not meant to be your "true" friends. They are just there for a page or two, perhaps even a chapter, in your book of life. Just the way it is.

Re: Disability discrimination
You are more forgiving than I am. I see too many "christians" pulling some of the stupidest antics; just the stuff they do, the way they act, yeah it's them and not me. But I have no care to be associated with them in any fashion. Jesus was real, yes. But right now, I don't know if I want to be ...

Re: Disability discrimination
You just may be better off finding a different church. The church itself is not your responsibility, so if they lose you as a member, the group itself won't car. A few individuals, maybe.
I am more concerned about you taking care of you.

Disability discrimination, part 2
In a previous discrimination thread I replied, but felt that the details in my issues were not proper as a response. I have several problems with the discrimination issue. One problem- One of my problems is when the people in church "don't understand" my disability. Ok, so I used to tell them "trau...

Re: Greetings from the Colorado Rockies
Hello Coll. I have four TBI's (two severe, one serious, one mild), PTSD, herniated disks throughout my back and most of my neck. Alone with a variety of knee & hip injuries. The joys of being hit by a drunk driver. Colorado is my home-state, but now live in Utah.

Re: Disability discrimination - necropost
Sorry for the necropost/rant. Acording to the Holy Bible, the chore one has is to first take the issue before their brother they dispute. If that doesn't work, then you take it before the pastor and the brother. If that does not resolve it, you take it before the church. And if that does not work,...

Re: Empathy and compassion
People that have dealt with difficulties are thought to be more compassionate and have empathy for those facing difficulties. I'm finding that in many ways this isn't really true. There sometimes appears to be an attitude of, " I've dealt with it, why can't you? " Or then the compar...
