Things not to say to someone with mental health problems….
These rang so true...sorry if it is a repost but it really connects with me. 1. “Get busy, and distract yourself. “With significant mental illness, [distractions] won’t work, not even temporarily, Howes said. After a person slogs through various diversions, they’re still left with the ...

Re: Losing *everyone* in my life because of disability
What Cooper said really does help, you cannot vent to family and friends a lot of the time – either they cannot understand what it is you trying to say, you come across as though you are complaining or it just feels as though something is amiss. However, a therapist allows you to get those thought...

Re: My pain is better
It certainly sounds interesting enough, but I am always a little concerned about brand-new posters who make recommendations right away. Call me cynical, but I just get the whole alarm going off. I would also get the idea that I would be a little claustrophobic in those situations…

Re: Public Transport
I would say that one of the most problematic issues has to be train travel. I often feel as though I am left to my own devices there, which is very frustrating because I know that train travel would really get me a bit of mobility back that I am missing in my life.

Re: being a supervisor
I think that this is something that can only come from within you – I cannot pretend that this is going to be easy (I would never dismiss anything like that) but I think that the only change that you can make it mental. I hope that you have since found it a bit easier to deal with.

Re: looking for a equal not a dependent
As someone who still has someone close, I cannot imagine how difficult it has to be to want to find someone when you deep down have these other issues to deal with. I hope that people start coming here more frequently and actually gain a partner that way – would warm my heart.

Re: Losing *everyone* in my life because of disability
I understand that there is no magic word that I can say that makes you feel better – I just hope that you can find a better place in your life. I am very sorry that this has cost you so much so far, that just makes my situation feel …insignificant almost. All my love and prayers.

The sense of relief after being approved
I just wanted to share that there is nothing like the sense of relief that you feel once you receive that approval letter. Especially if you feel you have put up a long and lengthy fight, it may have been frustrating but it makes the victory even sweeter. My family has had to fight for more than yea...
