Re: Possible adaptation with a 2 story house?
The ramp ratio would take up a lot of your space. Since your in Colorado I recommend you contact Accessible systems at 303-693-7787. They really helped us. You mentioned hand crack. I think that having to crank yourself up the stairs trying to carry something might be a bit hard. Another thing to co...

There are lifts for both stairways and vertical that have battery backup. They really are surprisingly affordable.

Re: Hotels that rent room as ada complying that are not.
Best Western Hotels are mostly franchised not company owned so unfortunately the only recourse is to file a complaint with the city of Branson. My suggestion is let their department of touristry know that you are letting disabled people know of this problem.

Re: Off-road mountain climbing wheelchair
As soon as they get the electric motor figured out and installed I'll see if I can get someone to show me how to get the information somewhere for you. It, as it is, wouldn't be safe on crowded trails. I use out mainly on my own property, off trail.

Re: Off-road mountain climbing wheelchair
Glyn, have you thought about adapting an ATV? Might be easier.
I use an ATV here in the Rockies. We put a special muffler on it so that it makes a lot less noise. At the moment we have a friend that is trying to adapt an electric motor to use on one.

Re: Advice Needed for Student Loan Discharge
Maybe you should talk to a psychiatrist. They would be willing to look into your non-obvious disability, and they are a md. I doubt that any respectable doctor though would be willing to sign the paper on just your say so. They either will need your records and then also do an evaluation, which coul...

Re: The Wheelchair Decision
Jeremy, Instead of a wheelchair, a small mobility scooter might be the thing. I know that many able body students use them to make it across campus at the university I taught at. There are some that fold up and are light weight. I'm really sorry that your mother has acted ashamed of your disability ...

Tornado, I'm sorry that you are living with chemical sensitivity also. I'm fortunate to have a doctor that has experience dealing with it so he has been a wonderful help. Many of is with fibromyalgia develop chemical sensitivity. As for communicating with verbal cues I'm trying to figure out what yo...

Thanks for the reminder. I know that sometimes I can do all the things you've mentioned. If a mod sees me doing any of them if they have a moment please pm me and let me know. You guys have a hard enough job without any of us regulars making it harder.
