Remembering military service (Poem)

Post by dude2 » 6 years ago

I was talking to chatter friend yesterday and it inspired this poem.

The 6th Fold.

The sixth fold is where our hearts lie.
Pledging allegiance even though we may die.
Doing our best so that others may live.
Doing our all, that's all we can give.
Taking orders we know not why.
Loving it all just learning to fly.
Defending freedoms for those we do not know.
Believing faithfully hoping others do not go.
Stopping madmen we know not where.
Just so others can feel free there.
Brothers in arms I met so few.
Entering the shadow of death, that is all we knew.
Leaving our mothers so proud they are.
Watching our fathers cry as they know the scar.
Our love of God watching us alone.
Hoping a box is not our return home.
Forgotten soldiers we know not where.
Knowing the others are soon to be there.............
